I had decided after finishing with the academic year I would still pursue design projects over the summer. And to do so I felt a bigger desk was necessary with the help of my father we made and inserted a corner unit desk into my room. I divided the spaces into three sections one for art and sketching one for college based projects and then one for model making and cutting.
For my college based work I felt a desk organised was needed and so I began. Using cardboard and tape I quickly put together a box unit to house various sketching utensils from pens to markers

cut a normal cardboard box similar to a pizza box except smaller I cut that in half and folded it in half reinforcing it with brown tape. I then cut 4 card slots measured to slot into the box they extrude slightly through the bottom of box.

I did this in hope to cut them at angle to leave the box slightly raised front so utensils wouldn’t slide out. This however wasn’t enough so I used a slip of foam and using the extruding slots and tape fixed it to the bottom of the front,

I also used a cable organizer on one side which is perfect size for holding pens this section would be used for frequently used or my preferred pens etc.

The other side a section was made using more card and tape for measuring implements such as 45 60 and 90 degree triangles.
On the top of the box I folded over and stuck down tape acts as a fin to keep smaller rulers in place and easy to grab.
id have to say looking back now that a paint job or some attempt at implementing design with paint or spray paint would definitely add to the overall aesthetics of the piece. the plain cardboard and exposed tape can only be described as unfinished and rough.
